A Carrick Castle family shoot with the Mellet’s.
At the beginning of January 2018 I was delighted to be put in contact with the Mellet family! The Mellet’s run the Carrick Castle Estate, which has recently opened as a wedding venue. The family gave me a tour of the gorgeous Carrick Castle Lodge before their shoot. To hear more about the Lodge, take a look at my blog here.
Unfortunately one of their children was not able to be there for the Carrick Castle family shoot, but I hope I will be able to capture the four Mellet’s on the shores of Loch Goil very soon!
The family have relocated to Carrick Castle from South Africa, complete with their lovely beagle Sabah! A very drastic change in temperatures for them!
After the tour of the Carrick Castle Lodge, we ventured out into the garden for some pictures. The Lodge is set in such a stunning location, overlooking Loch Goil and with stunning mountain views in the background.
After some shots in the garden, we made our way down to Loch Goil. The quiet road down to the shore made a perfect opportunity for some pictures of the family walking away from the camera. The sky looked great and the scenery was just amazing.
It was a little too cold for their little boy, so he wasn’t looking the happiest in some of the shots! I really love the dynamic moody element that he adds to some of the images.
A picnic bench by the shore was a lovely spot for the three of them to have some pictures together. The couple specified that natural shots are definitely more their style, which worked really well for my preferred shooting style.
We were a little constrained by time on the day, but I’m really happy with the images, and look forward to shooting with this lovely family in the future.
A Carrick Castle family shoot is definitely something that I would recommend – it’s a really perfect location to get some lovely family photographs.
