I had such a memorable time capturing this Lochgoilhead secret proposal for Guy & Katie – or as I like to call it “Ollie’s parents did a thing!”
Guy chose to propose on their ten year anniversary, which made it all the more meaningful. Under normal circumstances, I might have suggested moving the date (especially as it was my son’s birthday!), but with it being such an important occasion and right here in Lochgoilhead, there was no way I was missing it.
Storm Floris certainly added a few challenges. A village-wide power cut meant no phone signal, so there was no way to communicate with Guy once I had left the house! I had told Guy what car to look out for, but standing in the woods in full green waterproofs, I wasn’t exactly easy to spot! I could see him scanning the area, wondering if I was there! Ha!
The walk up the hill was wild! Wind, rain and creaking trees! Somehow, when it mattered most, the weather gave us a break. The proposal itself and the shoot afterwards were windy, but dry, which felt like a small miracle!
Guy had chosen this walk because it’s one of their favourite spots While the original proposal spot would have been too tricky (there was no way I would have been able to get into position without looking like a total weirdo!), Donich Falls turned out to be the perfect location. It’s also a place that I love to walk with my own family and friends, which somehow made it even more special!
A truly unforgettable Lochgoilhead secret proposal, full of adventure and a little bit of Scottish drama!
Katie is really not a fan of getting her picture taken, but ended up enjoying the shoot! The couple have gone on to book me for their wedding photography, which I am super excited for!
