As a Loch Ard wedding photographer, days like this are everything I love about photographing weddings in Scotland. Spring brings the landscape to life with vibrant flowers, fresh greenery, and soft golden light, and this day had all of that and more.
There’s something really special about a May wedding in Scotland, and Dougie and Heather couldn’t have picked a better time. The grounds of MacDonald Forest Hills Hotel & Spa were in full bloom, creating the most incredible backdrop for relaxed outdoor portraits and natural, candid moments throughout the day.
From the moment guests arrived, there was such a warm, laid-back atmosphere. It’s exactly the kind of wedding and venue that suits a documentary photography style so perfectly.
One of the absolute highlights of my day had to be the alpacas! These fluffy guests brought a lot of fun and something different to the wedding!
It’s touches like these that make a wedding truly unique and super fun for the pictures! Dougie and Heather fully embraced it, and it added such a fun, personal twist to an already incredible day.

As the evening kicked off, the celebrations stepped up a gear with an incredible ceilidh.
Ceilidhs are always such a highlight to photograph, full of movement, laughter, and chaos!
From the first dance to the final spin, the whole room was buzzing, and it was the perfect way to round off such an amazing day.
